The Viscount was Timex's first automatic. In 1956 it was sold simply as the "Automatic", on a modified M21 called the M26, and took the Viscount name in 1957. The M29 followed by 1959.
From the late 1960s the Viscount used the self-wind M31 family: the thin M31 with planetary gear winding, the M32 adding a calendar and the M33 a day and date. By 1977–1980 it had moved to the fast-change M108 and M109. Several were made for the British market.
