This piece came directly from the collection purchased from Paul Wuthrich’s family by a few collectors. Paul was a former head of R&D at Timex for several decades and had many prototype pieces that came from the Timex labs.
In the late 60s into the early 70s Timex did some experimentation with a sub-brand called Quartron. This massive, fun case was the housing for an electronic movement, and came with a black dial variation as well as “Quartron” branded dials. Most of these do not actually work as they are either missing components or have a battery hatch that is the wrong size for the movement.
