This particular piece came directly from the collection purchased from Paul Wuthrich’s family by a few collectors. Paul was a former head of R&D at Timex for several decades and had several prototype pieces that came from the Timex labs.

This is a 9617 that was cased in a case that ended up housing a few different diver-esque pieces from 1970. The 9617 that made it to the consumer market ended up being cased in a more conservative style.
