Heritage 1854 is an independent, non-commercial archive of vintage Timex watches. This page sets out what information the site handles, who handles it, and the choices you have. Questions or requests: contact@heritage1854.com.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It records the pages you view, how far you scroll, the files you download (such as the factory manuals), the links you follow to other sites, the site that sent you, your browser and device type, and an approximate location worked out from your connection. It does not record what you type. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. Advertising features are switched off: no ad personalisation and no Google signals. Google keeps this data for 14 months.
If you are in the European Union, the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google Analytics loads only after you choose Accept in the banner; until then nothing is sent to Google. Elsewhere it is on by default. Anywhere, you can turn it off with , and a browser that sends Global Privacy Control is treated as having declined.
Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to 13 months. Declining deletes them. Your choice is kept in your own browser so the banner does not keep asking.
To decide whether to show the banner, the site asks its host which country your connection is in. Only the two-letter country code comes back, and it is not stored.
The contact form
When you write through the contact form, your name, email address, message and any photos you attach are delivered by Resend, an email delivery service, to the Heritage 1854 inbox. They are used to reply to you and for nothing else: not shared, and not added to any list. Ask at the address above and they will be deleted.
Journal emails
If you subscribe to the journal, your email address is kept by Buttondown, the service that sends the emails. It is used only to email you new journal posts, and every email has a link to unsubscribe.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel, and the catalog page images are served through Cloudflare. Like any web server, they receive your IP address and browser details in order to deliver pages, and keep them in short-lived logs. Fonts and scripts are served from heritage1854.com itself, so browsing the site does not load anything from other companies, apart from Google Analytics as described above.
Other sites
Pages link to other sites. Nothing from them loads until you follow a link, and their own privacy policies apply there.
Your choices
Heritage 1854 does not sell personal information and does not run advertising. You can ask what information the site holds about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted, at contact@heritage1854.com.
