Taylor Stitch x Heritage 1854: A Year in the Making

When one of your favorite brand sees a customer service email from you and decides to reach out to you for a collaboration…well you can’t say no. Launching today, is a truly unique venture between a menswear and lifestyle brand and vintage watch collector, The Timeless Capsule. 40 vintage Timex pieces curated over the course of a year by me, and presented to you by Taylor Stitch.

Back in early 2021, I decided to use my Heritage Timex email to get a little extra discount from Taylor Stitch. I was probably buying another jacket from them…because…well because they make really great jackets…and also everything else. What started as a simple customer service email ended up in Taylor Stitch asking me to curate a large set of vintage Timex watches for a special release.

One of my favorite things about Taylor Stitch that has made me a loyal fan for many years now (my wife even owns a jacket from back when they made women’s clothing), is that they aren’t just makers of great menswear, but are also storytellers. If you look closely at the brand, they are always trying to work with others to create a sense of something greater. Sometimes this is as simple as their many fantastic collaborations with similar brands, and other times they go completely out of their comfort zone to have a vintage Timex collector put together a small collection for their audience. Of course I was honored to help, and to bring further attention to the beauty and historic importance of vintage Timex.

We knew right away that we wanted to involve other experts around the vintage Timex community (it takes a village), so from the beginning I contacted people I trusted to repair any Timex. As I was stepping into fatherhood at the time, plus juggling the rest of life’s responsibilities, I knew there was no way I was going to be able to handle repairing these on my own. So as I put together the collection, i turned most of the restoration over to folks you can find right here in the repair section of the site, and you cannot. I simply gave the watches any cosmetic touch up they needed, and final inspection before sending them off. I used all my normal resources for finding watches including various auction sites, private connections, and even pulled a couple from my personal collection. Almost every watch has a brand new strap picked by my specifically for the watch it’s on. A few have their original bracelets or straps.

What we ultimately came up with was forty watches, covering four decades, each with its own unique story to tell. You will find in the collection more hard to find pieces like the two near mint Black Maxes from the late 70s, or the slightly more well loved but equally tough to grab up Marlin Boy Scout variants from the late 70s. We even have a camper from 1991. Although this collection is more geared towards the Taylor Stitch, I believe that both collectors and the general audience alike will find something to look at and love.

You can find the pieces pictured here and many more live now on Taylor Stitch along with an interview I did with them on their blog.
